Sunday Adventures

The girls earned a trip to the water park from their summer reading program, so we loaded up when the rest of the world was at church and hiding from the rain, and hit the water slides.  Mollie's need for speed was a blast, and Ryan and I had fun taking turns doing the biggest rides with the biggest drops with her!  Kendall was more the lazy river pace, but with some encouragement, we got her to join Ryan on a two person water slide... and she asked to go again, with mom this time, so we all got a chance to experience her inner dare devil start to come out :)  What a fun day being kids!!!!  And off to Fort Worth for some patio weather and window shopping after!  Love just tooling around and being together!

Our activists experiencing her first march.  Moving!

Yoga Sessions with KK

I can't say I felt particularly good after this, but it was fun while it was happening!

School's out for the weekend!

We started our Saturday with the Perot museum. KK had a birthday party, so Mollie and I got to explore.  It was such a treat to watch her little brain work and learn and question and discover.

We treated ourselves to lunch on a patio because it was in the 70's in August.
So, it is a requirement to enjoy the outside.

If both of my girls are there...

you know where to find me!
I'm taking my newfound freedom, and volunteering in the classroom as much as I possibly can.
I love seeing the surprise on these girls faces when Mom shows up to do lunch, recess or read to the class... or just give a big hug.  So glad it's still cool to be seen hugging mama.
And my heart is full seeing these girls so excited at school!

Or I'm at the front of the carpool line waiting to take them and their buddies to celebrate a great day!

Cheers to first day success!

We celebrated the last night of summer, so we must celebrate the end of the first day of school.
Swimming and sugar and a gorgeous sunset after a very happy first day of school!
Apparently we aren't ready for summer to end :)

First Day of School - 2017!

I cannot come up with the words to describe today.
My favorite job, my calling, my happy place, took a major turn today when both of you walked hand in hand to a full day of school together.  After nine years of having one of you with my every single day for errands and cuddles and play time, we sent you off to begin your elementary school journey.
I thought I would spend the whole morning in tears, but it would be hard to after seeing both of your joy! Kendall starting school with the magic of the best kindergarten teacher ever... and Mollie ready to learn in third grade after a couple easy years of primary school.  So, instead of crying, I smiled and my heart was full.  We couldn't be more proud of you two beautiful girls, and I will miss summer (and you) more than you will ever know!

When this is what you see approaching you in carpool.... hard not to smile!

For the rest of your lives I will be telling you stories of your younger days... when you were my sidekicks, and I took you everywhere with me, and loved every minute.  How people commented on how adorable and helpful you were.  And how proud I was.  And how nothing was better than a morning cuddle with nowhere to be, or a lazy morning trip to the coffee shop.  But today, I will smile after seeing your big smiles.  And I will know you are in incredible hands at school.  And as KK said, we will have morning cuddles on the weekends :)  And I will count down the minutes until carpool.
Love you!

The last official day of summer

And we blew it out!
I mean, celebrated!
We cuddled, we pancaked, we had floats and shaved ice, we did cannonballs and we cuddled some more.
My oh my, how I will miss having you ladies around.
Nine years of starting my mornings with and running my errands with my sidekicks.
And tomorrow you'll be off to start conquering the world.
How can this be?!

Well, as KK said to reassure me, "there will always be weekends for cuddling".
AMEN!
Mollie, I must be in denial about your starting third grade :)
