Sundays

The State Fair

Although not one of your parents favorite outings, we have definitely found a way to make this a fun day!  A few rides, games and fun houses, then a patio lunch with live music.  Not so bad, and of course, you ladies love it! Especially the high quality loot you get to bring home!
First time on the Texas Star.

The Book with No Pictures

I could look at the series of about 50 pictures from this crew enjoying this book all day.
And that's because this is literally the funniest kids book EVER!

Laughing all the way!

This week we received this awesome reminder from Kendall's teacher on why laughter is important for children.  I think it's equally important for adults.  Thank you for making us laugh daily with your goofiness, silly antics and witty sense of humor!  Thank you for creating special memories and making everyone around you happier.  Love you girls!

Why is Laughter Important for Children?
Some days, communication between parents and children goes like this:
Wash your hands! Did you find the other shoe? I need the permission slip signed today!Don't yell at your sister!Where's my homework? I signed that permission slip yesterday! Did you check under the table? Are you really going out looking like that? Can you drive me to the mall now?
Life is busy, and instructional conversation makes up the majority of parent/child communication on an average day.
Here are some reasons to slow down, take a few deep breaths, and add some playful conversation liberally sprinkled with laughter to your communication:
 1. Laughter releases endorphins, the feel good hormones that boost your mood. Everyone is happier when the people around them are happier!
 2. Laughing with your children creates special memories. When they are all grown up, the happy times will be recalled with great ease, due to laughter's imprint on the brain!
 3. Laughter releases tension. No explanation necessary we all have pent up stress to release!
 4. Laughter facilitates an atmosphere of trust. The effects of laughter last far longer than the actual minutes spent having fun together; the positive interaction increases the trust people feel in one another.
Studies demonstrate that the average child laughs over 300 times per day, while the average adult laughs only 15 times daily!
Let's commit to increasing the laughter in our interaction with our children!

Dates with my KK

What a treat to have a special afternoon for KK/Mama time!
We hit the new Shake Shack for a salted caramel shake and Kendall's first take home reader!
Having your little read to you while you share a shake is pretty much the best afternoon ever.
