Miss Independent is 3 1/2

Today we celebrated Mollie's half birthday.
Mollie's school celebrate half birthdays so the summer birthdays still get a celebration, so we jumped on board.  Daddy and I attended her birthday chapel celebration then took her out for a big girl lunch.  At chapel, the birthday kids stood in the front of chapel and their classmates sang "Happy birthday to you, may God bless you".  Then the birthday kids got to ring the church bells (xylophone).
It was just precious.

At lunch, the precious stopped and the goofing started.
Apparently Mollie decided that 3 1/2 makes her a big girl.  She has always been independent, but on this day, she decided she's all grown up.  She walked me into the kitchen to show me how to bypass the babyproofing.  "See Mommy, I can open this drawer now, let me show you how."

When she wants to watch a show, she grabs the ipad and hides under a blanket where we can't find her
I told her she couldn't have a treat until she ate her lunch, and that I would make her lunch after I fed Kendall.  Well, apparently she didn't want to wait for that, so when I went to feed Kendall, she pulled her stool over to the cupboard to get her plate, then pulled her stool to the fridge, cut a bag of shredded cheese open with a scissors and dumped the whole bag on her plate, then topped it with a small piece of ham.  "Look Mommy, I made my lunch, so now I can have a treat".  I must say, I was very impressed with the effort.  I would have bet on her going straight for the treat when I left the room!
Big girl, we love you and are so proud of you.  Thanks for saying the darnest things and surprising us and making us smile every day!  You are such a ray of sunshine.

Beach Staycation

Thanks to Daddy taking off a couple days of work, we were able to getaway and have some quality family time.  We spent our staycation at Lake Kiowa, which still felt like getting away from it all and allowed us quiet play time with just the four of us.  We planned a bunch of activites and were about 50/50 for success on each one.  When our plans did work, we had a blast...  when they didn't, we had a laugh.  What more can you expect with an infant and toddler :) Daddy, thanks for the perfect weekend of hiking, golfing, swinging, biking, playing, cooking, a little crying and most of all laughing!

"I am Papa"

The Charlie torturing begins.  We have been counting down until the day when the girls were excited to play with Charlie.  Well, the day has come and Charlie can't run away from Mollie fast enough.  The good news is Mollie doesn't give up and finds lots of joy in chasing the poor guy.

A couple practice birthday pics...

And cap off a fun trip with some fun on the golf course.  Although there isn't any excitement in the actual game yet, there is nowhere like a golf course to run free!

TGIF!

Our happy girls were very content standing and digging in the mud to celebrate Friday.  We continued to enjoy the 70 degree January day having friends over for happy hour outside.  The costumes were on before they stepped in the door :)  The princess and the wolf had a ball pushing each other on the digger and having dinner alone at the big kids table!

Kendall is SIX Months Old!

Our sweet baby girl is six months old.
18 lbs, 11 oz, 27 inches
Six months has brought lots of blowing raspberries, squeals of delight, rollovers, finding her feet, standing up and being proud of it,  cereal, bananas and sweet potatoes, two big teeth, sleep (again) and of course the bright eyed smiles.  The biggest highlight is the extreme joy Kendall gets from her big sis.  Kendall adores Mollie, watches her, laughs at her... and the adoration goes both ways.  Mollie rushes to her side when she crying and is SO proud when she makes her laugh.  Kendall squeals when we chase Mollie around the house and Mollie loves to entertain with peak-a-boo.  Kendall loves watching Mollie do dance recitals on her stage and Mollie loves dressing Kendall up in tutus and angel wings.

I would never guess a six month old and three year old could have this month interaction and find this much joy in each other.  It is truly heartwarming to watch.

Which leads me to.... the photo I've been waiting for... my six month old baby girl and big girl SMILING together - it's harder to capture on picture then it sounds :)

And the balloon pics of our six month old (showcasing her standing, sitting and teeth)...

Love you KK!
