First official haircut

Mollie walked past a kids haircutting place on our stroll this morning and decided it was time for her first official haircut (last one was from Mom when she was 10 months old). I think the decision was made from the toys they were selling in the window, so she didn't know what to expect when she found herself sitting in a chair (fire truck) with a woman with scissors.

Progression:

Not sure what to think...
Getting a bit more excited...
Thrilled to see her favorite book, Cinderella, come to life before her very eyes.
Loving the final product and wanting to stay forever to finish her movie.
Success. And now that she thinks haircut = movie, she is already asking for another one!

Family Friday

We enjoyed our 80 degree March evening on a patio outside while Mollie read her books and ran around the courtyard. Perfect family evening!

Happy St. Patty's Day

We celebrated with all of Mollie's Irish friends. Quite chaotic getting the growing group to all smile at once, but WOW, did these girls have a wonderful time playing late into the perfect spring night!

Side note - clearly I don't pick out her clothes anymore, otherwise she would have been wearing green!

Half Way There!

Two pics of the babe.
1. at the 20 week sonogram. 2. in my belly
Two pieces of good news.
1. baby looked great at the sonogram, 10 fingers, 10 toes. YAY! 2. finally felt the first signs of somersaults last night!

Most exciting news is we're halfway to meeting the little one.

Dallas Blooms

Yes she climbed right past the fence and into the flower bed and yes she picked a flower. Rule following has never been a big strength! What a wonderful surprise to find a building dedicated to the story of the Little Mermaid. A current favorite. (Clearly not the disney version, but she was excited none the less!)

Changes, changes

For the first half of my heart -
And for the half I haven't met yet -
We've been doing some painting on canvases and some painting on the walls. The nursery is all set to go for Baby Dos...
And Mollie has made the successful transition to her girly girl big girl room!
Our house filling up with kids rooms makes me smile! And it couldn't have been more fun putting them together.

Open for Spring

We had a great weekend with Nana and Papa, kicking off the lake season by land and water. Turns out 2 1/2 brings new adventures to get excited about in a familiar place.

Land -
Mollie loved her first official hike around the Horseshoe path at Lake Kiowa (only after a failed attempt to make it up near Oklahoma). Although Mom and Dad had their sites set on bigger things, the hike was PERFECT for Mollie and she couldn't have been more thrilled with her walking sticks, rock collection, the fort we discovered and checking out the flowers.

Water -
Papa put the boat in the water and Mollie couldn't get enough of it. "FASTER AGAIN" was the line said the most frequently this weekend. Here are the boat pics...

And the hike pics...

Thanks Nana and Papa for a great weekend!

Irishfest!

Who would have guessed Irishfest would have ended up being a HUGE hit with Mollie. She warmed up to the fiddling by standing in my lap to get a clear view of the fiddlers, then moved to dancing in the aisle. Before long was pulling my hand and asking to go up on stage.Thankfully Papa was up for breaking the rules... so yes, that is Mollie and Papa to the left of the stage, slowly creeping closer and closer until the end of the performance when Mollie was standing on the stage.
"That was loud". She said with a smile. "I want to be an Irish ballerina". Cheers!

Waiting for the birdies

Our creative Grandpa grew some giant squash this summer, and when Grandma was away, worked some magic to turn them into bird houses/craft projects. He sent three our way, one was the post-superbowl inspiration above, and the others were blank slates to use for our crafting projects.

Our backyard is so festive, now we just need to have some birdies move. Fingers crossed.
Thanks Grandpa!
